Welcoming Our Featured Artist of September 2020, Brad Sabelli, to Gallery 120

Gallery 120 would like to welcome our featured artist for September 2020, Brad Sabelli. Read on to learn more about him and his work in the Performing Arts and Studio Arts. His work will be on display through September 30th in his exhibit titled "Brad Sabelli, My Dual Career in the Performing Arts and Studio Arts."

BRADLEY W. SABELLI


Bradley Sabelli holds the Doctor of Fine Arts, Master of Fine Arts, Master of Arts, Bachelor of Fine Arts, and the Associate of Arts degrees in several areas of architecture studies, Fine and Performing arts disciplines. During his tenure as ‘Professor Emeritus’ in the Theater and Dance Program Dr. Sabelli served as deputy Chair and Producer, technical director and senior designer in all three design concentrations. He served on numerous University committees and was a pioneer in the distance learning programs for the arts and humanities for The Columbian College. Professor Sabelli developed and established the MFA degree programs in the disciplines of stage design, costume design, lighting design and museum exhibition design. Bradley currently serves in an advisory capacity to GWU (Corcoran School of Arts and Design), and is on the Rock Hill Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism advisory board. Brad also teaches studio art courses at the Fewell Park (Rec. Center concentrating on the arts in Rock Hill SC.), York County Center for the Arts (Rock Hill SC.) and at Gallery 120 (Clover SC.).


Professor Sabelli’s professional resume include designing scenery, costumes, lighting for over 270 productions for professional, regional, academic and military organizations. Brad served as the chief civilian designer for the U.S. Army’s ‘Spirit of America ‘military pageant for 28 years. In addition, he is an affiliate member of the AFM and USA unions.


His fine arts accomplishments include works exhibited at the Smithsonian Institution (D.C.), The Dimmock Gallery (D.C.), The Crooked Tree Arts Center Galleries (Petoskey MI.), The Phillips Family Gallery (Pittsburg PA.), The Southern Arts Society Inc. Gallery (King’s Mountain NC.), Dalton and Perimeter Galleries (Rock Hill SC.), 120 Gallery (Clover SC.), Fewell Park Exhibitions (Rock Hill SC.), Olive’s Gallery (Ft. Mill SC.) ,Gaston Art League and Gallery, Rotunda Gallery Rock Hill City Hall, Charlotte Art League to name a few. Brad is also an accomplished musician. His musical concentration is the percussion instruments.


Professor Sabelli’s current administrative duties include President of the Catawba River Art Guild (Center for the Arts) where He often serves as adjudicator for numerous Art exhibitions in the Carolinas. Dr. Sabelli is a board member on the Arts Council of York County SC. Brad also is a teaching member of the Southern Arts Society Inc. (King’s Mountain NC.).


His past off campus administrative duties included Co-founder and past Chair and vice Chair of the live entertainment industry’s preeminent national organization USITT (United States Institute of Theatre Technology, The Chesapeake Region), and Production Manager for the Montana Repertory Theatre Co.


Dr. Sabelli has served on the Editorial boards of the Collegiate Press and the Rowlman & Littlefield Publishing Group Inc. Brad also co-authored texts in general theatre studies and fine arts.


Dr. Sabelli received the Julia H. Post Activities Award (2017). This award is given to the person(s) most dedicated to the Social and Cultural Well-Being of the City of Rock Hill SC. In June of 2019 Dr. Sabelli received the Dr. Ben Ardrey Volunteer Award which recognizes a person(s) continuous exemplary work to enhance the cultural well being and support for the arts as educator, artist, arts organizer.
